The GMR reading order and scenario discipline

What it is

The reading order is the habit this whole curriculum exists to build. It runs from data status, through structure and levels, to indicators last — and it deliberately never opens with RSI or with a pattern name.

Following it means an explanation cannot become a collection of indicator readings looking for a conclusion.

The order is fixed rather than advisory for a specific reason: indicators are the easiest thing on a chart to produce an opinion from, and the hardest to be held to. Structure and levels can be checked by anyone looking at the same chart. Starting where the evidence is most checkable, and ending where it is most interpretive, is what makes a published read auditable after the fact.

How to spot it

A good chart read answers five questions, in this order: what is observed now; what supports the bullish case; what supports the bearish case; what would confirm each case; and what would invalidate the current interpretation.

If an explanation cannot state its own invalidation, it is not an analysis — it is a position.

Why people watch it

GMR labels how much weight a statement carries using a confidence ladder: an observation is a direct chart fact; a structural interpretation is a trend, level or pattern read from price; confirmation pending means the setup exists but its condition has not occurred; confirmed structure means it has; invalidated means the expected structure failed.

Publishing the ladder alongside the read is what lets a reader disagree with a specific step rather than with a verdict.

It also forces an honest downgrade path. When a setup that was described as confirmation pending simply never completes, the ladder gives it somewhere to go — invalidated — instead of quietly disappearing from the site as though it had never been published.

Confirmation

Preferred wording sounds like this: 'A daily close above the resistance zone followed by acceptance would strengthen the breakout case.' It names the timeframe, the condition and what it would mean.

Invalidation

And the other half, always stated: 'Failure back below the reclaimed level would weaken that view.' Both halves are published together, before the outcome is known.

Common mistakes

• Language GMR never uses: 'this will go up', 'guaranteed breakout', 'buy here', 'risk-free', 'safe entry'.
• Starting an explanation with an indicator, which inverts the order.
• Publishing a scenario without its invalidation, so it can never be wrong.
• Quietly upgrading 'confirmation pending' to 'confirmed' after the fact.
